Getting Rid Of Acne Marks
There are countless remedies available for getting rid of acne marks. There are over-the-counter topical creams and lotions, home remedies, and solutions from health food stores. All are said to work with a degree of success. For the most part, over-the-counter creams will give the results needed to getting rid of acne marks. They can be bought at any department, drug or grocery store.
When you start shopping around, you will find that there are dozens, if not hundred of acne products to choose from. They come in various strengths and modes of application, everything from ointments to wipes. Generally they all contain one of two active ingredients; Either benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid.
Both of these give the same result, but have a different action. Bensoyl peroxide works by reducing acne with anti- inflammatory and anti-bacteria agents. Salicylic acid dries tissue out, ultimately reducing the acne. A word of warning! Don’t ever be tempted to thinking that if one type will do the trick, both types used together will be even better. Never, never mix the benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid products together. Don’t use you skin as a test tube; The result might be a condition worse than you already have!
Do you normally have sensitive skin? If so, before you start application of any medicated cream for getting rid of acne marks, you may want to see if you have a sensitivity to it. These solutions contain chemicals which may cause dermatitis and make your acne look worse. Actually, they can cause a chemical burn. Pick a spot, like behind your ear, and try it for a few days there. If your skin remains clear, you will be able to apply it to your whole face. Remember though, these are chemicals that you are applying on your face. Sometimes you may find that even if you don’t get a reaction, you will get a sensation of tingling or stinging. This is just a normal function of the chemicals in the cream.
Before you put on any medicated skin solution, you should start with clean skin. In fact, the best method of getting rid of acne marks, is proper care and cleaning of the skin. Gently wash you face twice a day with a mild cleanser, or a soaped designed to fight acne. Avoid using harsh soap, strong smelling soap or anti-bacterial soap. Again, these can cause a inflammatory reaction. Never rub or scrub at your face. This applies to dying as well. Just gently wash with bare hands, and pat the skin dry with a clean, fresh towel.
After you have rinsed your face of soap, use an clean applicator to apply acne treating cream to your face, or apply with very clean fingers. When you apply an acne cream, apply it on the whole area where the acne is apparent, not just on the spots. Applying the cream on just the spots will make the spots go away, but the untreated surrounding areas will still be just as susceptible to acne breakouts. Gently rub the acne treating cream or lotion on your entire face very slowly and smoothly until it is completely absorbed into the skin. Follow the instruction for the number of times a day to apply it.
While it’s not recommended to squeeze a pimple as a remedy for getting rid of acne marks, the jury is still out on that matter. The rule of thumb is, don’t squeeze the pimples unless they are absolutely ready, and make sure you use gauze between your finger and skin when squeezing. Squeezing is so tempting, but doing so before they are ready will just make acne worse. Our hands are living bacterial zones. Touching the pimple in any way, shape or form just introduces more bacteria, and ultimately make the acne worse, possibly developing into cysts and scars.
Getting rid of acne marks is something that requires diligence and patience. Acne is an on going condition, and there is no time limit on how long it will last. You might find you out grow it eventually, you might find that it lasts well into adulthood. Regardless, it is treatable and can be kept at bay.
